I usually choose the newest non-beta release. Don’t bother testing beta unless you’re certain it solves your problem. A faulty memory slot is likely a hardware issue on the motherboard. It could also stem from CPU pins failing to connect properly, or, though improbable, a flaw in the CPU’s memory controller. Beyond swapping components to identify what works, there’s little else you can do.

RMA board matters, but BIOS compatibility is key. Otherwise it’s likely just not worth posting. Consider reselling the old kit and getting a real 2x32 kit—like 6000c32/30 or 6400c32. Better XMP performance thanks to tighter timings, and you can push over 8000 for future CPUs that support dual-rank. These kits come with Hynix dies, not the questionable Samsung/Micron chips that won’t clock above 7000.

This update is for future reference (it’s frustrating when threads don’t lead to solutions). I also attempted to reset the CMOS as a last attempt, but the problem continued. Most users agree the motherboard likely needs repair or replacement. Good news: my motherboard has an active warranty with MSI, and they approved my request for an RMA. A useful tip: when ordering online, you must complete product registration, providing store name, invoice, and receipt for the item. Since I didn’t have those details for the motherboard, I contacted their support line, which was very helpful. They asked for the serial number and some personal info, then sent me a pre-approved RMA form. A small difference: online registration lets you start warranty coverage from purchase date; calling without receipts only gives coverage from manufacture. This could be important for some cases. I’m planning to disassemble my PC and send the MOBO next week. Assuming everything goes smoothly, it should resolve as easily as mailing the MOBO—waiting a few weeks before reinstalling. If I receive more info soon, I’ll reach out; otherwise, thank you all for your support!
