PC experiences intermittent slowdowns and reduced efficiency.
I own a 3070 Ti system that has been working well for a long time. I consistently experience smooth frame rates across all games, but recently this has changed. My PC is now stuck in a pattern of "5 minutes normal performance, 5 minutes poor performance," where the poor performance phase is extremely frustrating—possibly only one frame every few seconds. I’m confident my drivers are up to date, and I can’t pinpoint what might have caused the change since yesterday’s stable performance. I attempted a Windows update that was delayed, but it didn’t help. It seems the update may have made things worse. My task manager indicates the GPU is at 100% during poor performance and only low (20-40%), while it runs at around 75 fps in games like Mordhau. Even in highly graphical titles, I usually see consistent ~75 fps, but now frames drop to about 0.5 fps every five minutes. I’ve checked all cables; power supply appears sufficient (about 200 watts more than needed), and temperatures are normal (40-50°C during gaming). This situation is really puzzling, and I’m looking for any advice or solutions.
AFAIK, maybe the reason they're running high isn't obvious. I thought about checking the wraith spire cooler, but I'm not sure how to do that without any monitoring tools installed.
Additionally, the OSD reports during playback of mordhau:
Performing as it normally does
Performing poorly
