PC experiences frequent crashes following the GPU upgrade to the 3060 Ti.
PC specifications: i5-11400f Palit 3060ti OC, dual PSU XTC750 cougar, 16GB RAM, HyperX fury 2TB SSD (1TB drive + 1TB SSD), 128GB SSD (just for the system). Recently upgraded GPU from Asus ROG Strix 1050Ti to Palit 3060Ti OC Dual. Attempted to install previous GPU but experienced crashes after one hour of play. PC frequently freezes during games without a clear cause, sometimes followed by a blue screen. Tried updating drivers, reinstalling Windows from 11 to 10, resetting to Windows 10, reinstalling drivers twice, and lowering the GPU frequency by 50MHz. Apex Legends ran smoothly for over two hours without issues, but Dying Light 2 now crashes every 5 to 20 minutes. Attached is the latest blue screen capture from Event Viewer.
I connected everything I could think of: mouse, keyboard, monitor, Ethernet cable, Bluetooth adapter, and external power source. I also considered checking the power supply unit, but I don’t have anything to verify. Regarding the GPU BIOS flash, it’s unclear what steps to take without more details.
They need to obtain a BIOS file from their site specifically for your card. The tool is merely an offline flash utility and doesn’t automatically check for updates. You should verify the connection by plugging in the Bluetooth device to see if games behave unexpectedly. DDU shouldn’t interfere since you’ve already performed complete OS reinstalls.
This GPU was bought new or used? Usually after resolving all known problems it points to a hardware problem—either the GPU or the PSU. The PSU should comfortably handle a 3060ti in terms of power requirements. However, the Cougar XTC models are among the poorest performers, often found on the lower end of the PSU rating scale. I’d consider the PSU most probable cause, but if the GPU was previously used, it might still have defects. The best course is to swap in a new PSU or test the GPU elsewhere; the outcome will guide whether you need to replace either component.
It's not required, but I use it for a few games with the gamepad. I'm planning to unplug it and have downloaded the BIOS updater from the GPU official site.
The GPU is brand new and very recent, possibly just a week old, so it might be a PSU. What recommendations do you have for the best one to purchase?
