Hello everyone, I’m trying to fix this problem and hope it helps others too. Recently, after installing Windows 10 (it had a virus), my onboard LAN wasn’t connected. In the Device Manager I only saw WAN miniports, not my network adapter. BIOS settings didn’t mention anything about my adapter either. I searched online and tried various fixes—reassembling the PC, resetting BIOS, running commands in cmd—but none worked. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. My specs are: MB: Aours M B450 CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 RAM: 2 x 8Gb HyperX Predator 3200Mhz GPU: Rx 570 PSU: Raidmax 735W 80 Plus Bronze SSD: Kingston 240 GB M.2 SSD: Adata 256 GB HDD: Western Digital 320 GB

So if you really don't have a BIOS setting that disables it the mobo is likely faulty.

I see your concern. If the equipment isn't functioning properly, it might be due to a hardware issue. The system previously worked well after several clean installs, so this inconsistency could indicate a problem with the components.

Failures can happen unexpectedly... Have you attempted to directly install the network driver from the motherboard driver section if available? It might be best not to take any action if it isn’t listed in Device Manager, though it’s hard to say for sure.

This concept is known as a cognitive bias where our minds attempt to connect unrelated events to suggest causation. The NIC failure is likely unrelated to any recent changes like reinstalling Windows. It probably just happened by chance.

There could be a problem with a faulty or missing drive that Windows isn't detecting, even when using tools like sfc/scannow. If this happens repeatedly, the suggested steps are: restart the system, update drivers, reinstall Windows, verify all hardware connections, and consider rolling back to an earlier version. You might also want to confirm your hardware is properly installed before proceeding.

I resolved the problem by swapping out the old CPU and RAM. After that, the LAN came back, I disabled the green LAN setting, and turned off the sleep mode feature in the settings. Once done, I installed the new components and everything functioned properly.
