PC crashing with Kernel 41 on Volmgr
I assembled the computer a couple of weeks back, but lately I’m experiencing frequent crashes, a blue screen, and the machine shuts down abruptly. The most recent failure required a hard restart to restore the boot drive to Windows. In Event Viewer, I see Kernel 41 with volmgr. Running hwinfo shows temperatures are normal during gaming, with CPU at 60°C max and GPU at 55°C max. Average temps are 55°C for CPU, 45°C for GPU. System response times are around 9800X3D with everything in auto mode. The specs I have are: CPU – 9800X3D (auto), RAM – Corsair Dominator Titanium RGB 64GB, CPU speed 6000MHz (1:1), NVMe – Samsung 990 PRO 2TB, PSU – Lian Li EDGE GOLD 1200W 80 Plus, CPU cooler – NZXT Kraken Elite RGB 360mm. I bought the warranty from Microcenter, but the CPU is past its return period; all other parts remain within the window. I’m puzzled about the issue and would appreciate any advice. I previously used a 20V CPU voltage, which seemed to resolve the problem. Since then, everything has been fine except for the crash. I’ve completed SFC scans and faced issues with dump file creation, but BugCheckProgress reported 0x00040049 Event 161, volmgr. The system rebooted without a clean shutdown. This could stem from the system failing to respond, crashing, or losing power unexpectedly. I’m using the latest chipset drivers and BIOS updates, but no clear solution is apparent.
Enable ram on auto as well. Reset CMOS and start in auto mode. If the issue persists, consider checking Samsung Magician for an update on the 990 Pro.
You experienced another crash after enabling auto settings. The issues reported are as follows.
Didn't you install the latest firmware for the 990? See this discussion on Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/techsupport/com.../?rt=58657
