PC Crashing
I followed your instructions and replaced both RAM modules, then reset the default settings on the BIOS. The issue continues. Pressing the CPU cache causes the computer to freeze, requiring a restart.
I've already tried that, but it looks like a single stick won't fit properly unless it's in the first position. My CPU was purchased four months ago, so it's still new, and it functioned correctly until recently. Appreciate your assistance ahead of time!
They’re asking if the computer’s main part (CPU) failed or if the main board (motherboard) had an issue. You might think about RAM because memory problems can cause similar symptoms, but the question is about what caused the problem.
Your mistakes appear similar to RAM issues, but poor IMC settings on the CPU can also trigger this. Some 9900k and even 8700k models switched from stable to failing abruptly with "Memory type" BSODs such as System service exception and IRQL Not Less or Equal, without warning. Until the 9900k was downclocked drastically to 3.6 GHz, these were identified as faulty CPUs—replacing them resolved the problem. If you check each RAM stick individually in the slot, you can see if one is faulty. Additionally, running AIDA64 with only one RAM installed will help confirm if the motherboard is the issue or if the CPU itself is problematic.
Hey sorry for the delay, thanks again for your assistance! Here are my RAM test outcomes: - Slot 1 functions properly (tested with every RAM stick, including identical Hyperx models) - Slot 1 + 2 works - Slot 1 + 3 causes PC to freeze under CPU cache stress - Slot 1 + 4 triggers PC freeze under CPU cache stress - Slot 1 + 2 + 3 resets itself - Slot 1 + 2 + 4 freezes when stressing CPU cache - Slot 1 + 3 + 4 freezes during CPU cache stress - Slot 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 freezes under CPU cache stress - Slot 2 works - Slot 2 + 3 works - Slot 2 + 4 doesn't boot - Slot 2 + 3 + 4 freezes under CPU cache stress - Slot 3 functions - Slot 4 passes all tests successfully - Test duration: 1 minute for successful runs; failed tests lasted under 5 seconds. If you suspect a RAM issue, let me know and I'll ask my brother to bring me some RAM sticks.
This seems like a faulty motherboard. Slots 2 and 3 are working, but slots 1 and 4 aren’t. It suggests the issue is with the motherboard itself. I think the problem is likely the board rather than the connections. The RAM will operate in single-channel mode in those two slots. My guess is it’s definitely a bad motherboard. Others, what do you think?
Thank you for your question. I'm not sure what caused the issue, but your system has been functioning well for about four months now.
