PC crashes completely or some programs stop working.
I decided to build this computer for the first time. My old one had problems where it got slow. Now I have better parts, but sometimes Discord freezes on its own. Windows 11 takes a long time to load some things. Helldivers 2 also freezes for seconds at times.
Here are my specs: CPU is an AMD Ryzen 9 7900, the GPU is an Nvidia GeForce 4060, I have 32GB of DDR5 RAM, and the storage has two hard drives (1TB and 2TB) in addition to one SSD. The power supply is a Corsair RM750x Shift series, the motherboard is a Gigabyte Gaming B850 with WiFi 6E, and I am using Windows 11.
I installed a CPU cooler tower and three fans. But it seems like my system can't draw enough power to avoid brownouts. Nothing is overheating though. The only thing I see is that one of the hard drives gets full of space when things are being done, but that's probably just file transfers or similar tasks.
Where should I start finding a solution?
You don't need an external hard drive if it isn't your main Windows drive. But making a new copy of Windows or cloning from an SSD will make your computer run faster and feel better overall.
Do you need a motherboard named Gigabyte Gaming B850 Wifi 6E for your board? Please send me a link to your RAM kit. I already have a CPU cooler and three fans installed, but that system doesn't seem powerful enough for a brownout event. What make and model do you have for the CPU cooler? Also, what is your case make and model? One thing I noticed: while using it, my storage drives are at 90% or more, but just like file transfers happen when things load up. Are you running Windows 11? Did you install the operating system offline mode, manually installing all drivers with the latest versions in an elevated event? Do you have an SSD on your new build? You don't have one.
Here is your memory card (you can probably find real info with a Google Translate): Kingston Fury Beast KF560C36BBE2K2-32, 32GB (two times sixteen), DDR5 speed of 6000MHz, CL36. Remembering to buy this memory from the price of 139.90 euros. Free delivery in your nearest shop. Vacom.hr CPU cooler: Arctic freezer 36 I had the tech shop where I got parts for installing Windows because they do that kind of thing. If I have to guess, it might have been offline mode. No SSD. I thought the Western Digital Gold Enterprise class hard drive would be fine.
Yeah, maybe getting a solid-state drive instead of a hard drive would have helped. But now that I've updated my motherboard drivers too, I found out that the latest graphics card software makes some games with Helldivers look weird. My friend told me about it.
I think a good idea for you, even though you probably already made a mistake with your hard drive. Get a small solid state drive instead, because my two big ones are full and I need more space. Put your favorite games like Steam or Epic onto the new one and turn on the option to add a drive in the settings menu. Then when you start downloading something else, it will ask where you want to save it this time. The USB cable isn't super long; it's just about as long as the distance from the tower to your external drive. Some people tell me not to put games on an external drive but I've never had any trouble doing that.
There is really no need for a separate hard drive that isn't the main one, but switching your computer to use an extra internal drive and moving the Windows installation there will definitely make things run faster when you start it up or run programs.
