I've relied on an XBOX Elite series 1 controller for several years without any problems. It functioned flawlessly until yesterday morning. Suddenly, late last night it began displaying unusual glitches. In all software—Steam, Xbox Accessory app, and others—it correctly registers button inputs. But once a game loads, the mapping gets completely disrupted. For example, in Final Fantasy XIV, the controller started treating camera movements as left-right shifts with the joystick up and down. All other buttons failed, and the game didn’t recognize the mapping. In Deadspace, triggers merged into camera movement plus aim and fire, making any button ineffective. Notably, Helldivers 2 still seems to work properly. No major updates occurred between morning and evening. I've tried reinstalling drivers, removing and reattaching the controller, and even switching USB ports—except for Final Fantasy XIV, where stick drift appeared in games. It’s unclear what to do next. I’m thinking about wiping my system after backing up data and reinstalling Windows if help is needed.
