I'll hold off until the update is available; it seems to be quite promising.

The dying light isn't well optimized. That's clearly true and a real disappointment.

This happens because buyers often act quickly on launch or pre-orders, only to later criticize them online. They might have missed the chance to get clear guidance and now feel frustrated.

I handled the dark side smoothly at 1440p with steady 60fps, odd

It's not overly optimized overall, but the CPU usage is a bit high. The game supports multiple threads, though it needs manual adjustments to perform well. Texture quality, shadows, and world details are as efficient as possible under current conditions on the GPU side. Excluding AMD cards, performance is limited—especially with a 2GB frame buffer and GTX 970. The industry is advancing, but 1080p demands more effort to maintain smooth play.

At 4770K... it's clear the overclock was done. Considering the benchmarks, it makes sense. But take a look at the i5—no locked i5 would handle this smoothly at 60+fps with high settings. It'd be understandable if multithreading worked and the game was tough, but this seems more about the call decision. It's similar to Assassin's Creed because the console API uses far less overhead than DX11.

Not pushed too hard, (since I double-checked and everything works fine) I’m pretty sure I reached the limit a bit.

Not the distance adjustment, I’m sure you can confirm. Check TB’s video and you’ll see his CPU is significantly stronger than yours : ) The reality is, the multithreading performance is terrible, and it still bothers me that we keep purchasing these titles blindly. How often do people get hurt before they stop playing?
