Hey there, I noticed something unusual with my PC setup. I installed it in December and it’s been running smoothly ever since. I use it regularly for gaming and work. Today when I powered it on, I felt a strange shock. I checked with a voltmeter from the case to ground on the power bar, and it showed 2.4V. That’s not something I’ve experienced before—I’ve never gotten shocked before, even last night. Our area had a strong wind storm recently, and my home isn’t well insulated, so you can definitely sense the draft. I’m curious if the motherboard might have shorted to the case or if the draft in my house is building up static.
It's typical for a minor current to seep into the ground, which is why switching power supplies are built this way. This reduces EMI noise and improves radio compatibility. Ensure your computer is properly grounded, the wall outlet provides grounding, and all power cords and outlets have proper grounding.
Everything appears fine, no recent modifications to the cables. All grounding seems intact. I inspected the wall receptacle and confirmed everything is functioning properly.
