PC Build Help
Hey! I just began assembling my new PC. What I got so far is fine – the rest are old and should be swapped eventually, but if you're keen – I have an i5 4460K, a budget CPU cooler, a cheap ASUS motherboard, DDR3 HyperX Fury 8GB x2, and a few stock case fans. Here’s what I picked:
- GPU: ASUS Strix 1660 Ti PSU
- Motherboard: Corsair TX550M
- RAM: 2x G.Skill Trident Z Royal (24000 MHz)
- Storage: 2x 8GB Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO
- Case: Aerogel Quartz RGB with stock fans
My budget is around $800, but I’d love to go even lower. I’m planning to upgrade later and want room for future changes. I’m new to this stuff, so I’m not sure which parts will fit best yet.
What should I buy next? Feel free to suggest alternatives – I’ll check if they’re available. I really want a flexible build for the next couple of years, so I’m leaning toward an X570 instead of a B450.
I heard that in my country it’s tough to find good MSI B450 boards, but maybe there are decent non-MSI ATX options? Also, I’m curious about whether a B450 with 3900X or 3800X support is possible.
Regarding the sound card: I don’t have a discrete one, but I’m thinking Realtek S1220 – does it work on these boards? I’m not sure if Intel/Realtek LAN has issues now.
About the PSU pin count: some X570 boards need more pins than the TX550M, so my current PSU should be fine unless you upgrade to a higher wattage model.
If you’re okay with RAM, should I go for 3200MHz or stick with lower speeds? I’m not sure how overclocking works yet.
Thanks ahead of time for your help!
Stay calm! Dark Rock Slim - do you have any other choices within your budget? The ASUS X570-P is the top pick and can handle a 3900X. The 2x CORSAIR Vengeance RGB PRO (25600-15-15-15-36) with 8GB offers better speed and lower latency – a win-win. The standard 8-pin socket supports up to 350W, covering the CPU only. A heavily overclocked 3950X can push more, so you should be okay. If you ever need a 3950X, consider upgrading your PSU as well.
Yeah, dark rock 4 / dark rock pro 4 (but this one is a bit too much) if we are talking about be quiet. But im not sure if there will be some space left for ram, because as i remember one of these has some problems with blocking ram slots..
The dark rock pro 4 supports a 40mm RAM slot, while the corsair vengeance rgp pro offers 50mm, making it impossible to use all four slots. You might find some noctua fans work. The u12s or nhd15s would fit well.
Sure, I can help with that. You're wondering how to set up the Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro at 3200MHz using XMP profiles. Just enable XMP and pick the profile you need. If your kit supports it, you can adjust the frequency manually if needed. No problem at all asking—I'm here to help!
For its fast performance, just turn on XMP and it should function. If you aim to push it further, begin with the XMP setup then adjust frequency, voltage, and timing yourself. This method is suggested in the guide: https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/cl...noobie_to/
