CPU model: AMD Ryzen 5 5600
Motherboard: MSI B550-A Pro ATX
GPU: PowerColor Radeon RX 6600, 8GB GDDR6
Power supply: Corsair TX-M Series TX650M, 650W
RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro, 16GB DDR4

Hello! I visited my brother's room to assemble his PC. Here are some events and my questions. First, I assembled everything on the motherboard without putting it in the case yet so I could test functionality. The CPU indicator lit steadily. I suspect a BIOS update might be needed. I downloaded the latest BIOS from MSI (https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/B550-A-PRO/support) Version 7C56vAB.

When I used the USB flash BIOS, it blinked endlessly. I removed the drive, formatted it as FAT32, renamed it to MSI.ROM, and retried. This time my PC booted up, started blinking quickly, then shut down after 4-5 minutes—possibly everything worked correctly.

After restarting, the indicator changed to VGA. I thought this was due to the GPU being loose because it wasn’t in the case. I put all components back inside the case, restarted the PC, and the CPU light returned.

I tried removing the battery for 5 minutes, then repowered it—still the light appeared. I also removed RAM, moved it, used only one stick, but nothing resolved the issue. Finally, I reinstalled the CPU and cooler, but the problem persisted.

I’m unsure what else to try. Will I go back tomorrow? Also, could this be a case of damaging the motherboard through flashing? I’m a bit worried about all this now...

Also, clear the CMOS/bios pins at the bottom of the board while the power supply is disconnected. The Ryzen model tends to handle such adjustments well, and resetting the CMOS usually resolves the problems about half the time.

The link seems to point to a Corsair RAM model. You mentioned your own RAM and are unsure if it matches, while also asking about the clear-pin method and seeking tutorials.

Ryzen and vengeance RAM pair perfectly in certain ways while causing issues in others. For accurate CMOS, locate the pins at the bottom of your board, marked with silk-screened text indicating BIOS reset. Disconnect the power supply from the wall, then connect a conductive tool like a flat head screwdriver to link the BIOS reset pins. If you have the motherboard manual, it should be available with diagrams tailored to your model.

Tomorrow I plan to test it, please let me know if that works. If not, here are some alternatives.

No, deleting the bios didn't resolve the issue. Also, removing the RAM still causes the CPU light to appear.

Hey everyone! I figured it out! Not using the RESET SW front panel part caused the issue, and since I didn’t install it, everything is working great now!
