PC build advice
Hello,
I’m planning to assemble a new gaming or work computer and need some advice on whether the components I have will work together smoothly. I’ve listed the parts I’m using, but I’m open to suggestions if there are better alternatives for any of them.
Here’s what I have:
- CPU: Ryzen 5 7600X
- GPU: Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4070 WINDFORCE OC 12GB
- RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR5 32GB 2x16GB at 5600MHz
- Motherboard: MSI MAG B650 TOMAHAWK WIFI
- Case: Antec PerformanceOne P20CE
- Power Supply: Seasonic CORE-GM-650 (currently owned)
I have a few questions:
1. Is my existing PSU sufficient for this build, or should I replace it? If yes, which model would you suggest?
2. Can the components fit together without any extra work or modifications?
3. For the CPU cooler, do you recommend something standard rather than high-end?
Thank you for your help—I look forward to your responses!
Your PSU is in great condition and should work well.
Ryzen can be affected by RAM sensitivity.
Is the part number listed on your motherboard's RAM QVL support list, or does it appear on a Corsair support list for your board and CPU?
Noctua keeps a guide of appropriate coolers.
Here’s the compatibility info for the 7600X:

NH-D12s would be a solid option for quality, quiet performance and simple installation. More affordable choices also exist.
Everything appears great with that build. I’d consider spending a bit more for an X3D chipset. At the very least, I’d need a 750w power supply. A CPU cooler should match the style you’re aiming for. I’ve switched to water blocks and won’t go back. My processor runs at about 55°C even under load.
I’ve tried the coolers from https://vetroo.com/ on several builds, and performance is outstanding—no failures so far. Hope this is useful.
Thank you for your response and feedback. The ram appears to be listed in the supported range for the motherboard. Although I have limited understanding of these details and may not fully grasp your question, the items I chose did appear on the list. If needed, I can share the link for the parts. Your help and reassurance are appreciated!
What others mentioned suggests these are solid choices for coolers...
- Arctic's "Freezer 34 eSports" models are a solid pick, typically priced between $45 and $50.
- The Deepcool AK400 is also well-regarded, generally costing around $30 to $35.
If you're not too concerned about ray tracing, I'd pick the 7800XT instead of the 4070.
Perfect mobo option!
The Deepcool AK620 is a solid air cooler, and if you want something more advanced, the AK620 digital is an option.
Search for 6000/cl30 or 6400/cl32 RAM kits.
Yeah, 7800xt is way better than 4070. I’d go for a 7700 instead of the non-X or 7600—it’s easier to cool down a bit less, even with some downsides.
Check out the B650 mobos; some come with PCIe Gen 4x16, not Gen 5, just in case.
A CL 30 6000 is perfect for AMD right now and offers good value.
The AK500 digital (not as big as AK620) will definitely keep the 7700 and 7600 non-X units super cool—my 7800x3d ran around 84°C on Cinebench R23 allcore!
For reference, the Arctic Freezer II 280mm kept the 7700 6800xt at about 58°C allcore, which is great for the X series.
My 7600x stock with a 420mm was 75°C allcore, so it really likes to warm up!
