PC BSOD occurs occasionally
Hey everyone... I've already faced two BSODs on my gaming PC that's only 3-4 months old. It runs Windows 8.1, which I know isn't ideal. A few years ago I encountered a MEMORY_MANAGEMENT_ERROR screen, though it was last year. Recently it turned blue and asked if I should send the details to Microsoft. Since I couldn't see the screen, I checked Event Viewer and found logs matching it. The error code was 0x0000001e, which is the KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED type. So far, these two crashes seem connected. Could it be a driver issue or is there something wrong with my hardware? Thanks for any help!
Not sure if my CPU is running at full speed and my GPU isn't getting too hot either. I think my RAM might be bad since it doesn't seem to boost properly, but the CPU fan is spinning at its lowest setting and the BF1 ultra is running smoothly. My GPU seems fine as it handles everything at high settings without any problems.
This has no relation to the matter. Boosting performance is inherently risky; sometimes the components work fine without adjustments, other times they may fail... if your RAM operates correctly without overclocking, it suggests no issue.
It might be due to a driver mismatch, since they can occasionally update incorrectly and create problems. I suggest checking the manufacturer's site for your motherboard, GPU, etc., and installing the newest compatible drivers to see if that resolves the issue.
Windows often triggers BSOD when updates occur, whether they're regular or weekly. Usually, it's related to a failed update or driver installation. Unless this repeats soon, you can likely ignore it. I experience BSOD on my laptop roughly every few months, while the main system has fewer incidents annually.
You performed a fresh operating system installation, ensured your BIOS was current, and added the newest AMD chipset drivers from their official site.
It seems the newest updates might be the December releases, but I haven’t looked for any changes... The current version is using the November BIOS and AMD drivers for B350, which are quite good for Windows 8.1.
