I've been working on this for a week now.
My new PC specs are:
CPU: Ryzen 7 5800x
Motherboard: Gigabyte a520I
GPU: MSI tro 3080
RAM: 64Gb Trident Z
Power Supply: EVGA 1300 Supernova GT
Storage: x1 WD NVME 1TB, x1 Samsung EVO 980 1tb, x1 Samsung 980 EVO 4tb
I've run every benchmark I could manage—3dMark, stress tests, and more—and everything has held up without any crashes.
I followed these steps:
- Turned XMP on and off
- Updated the BIOS for the new CPU (F15)
- Removed drivers via DDU
- Ran SFC and disk checks
- Used MSI Afterburner to lower GPU output
- Fixed COM-related codes in Event Viewer
- Performed memory checks
- Swapped PSU from Asus TUF 850W to a 1300W unit
- Tested both RAM sticks in both slots
- Reduced graphics settings in games (Arma 3, War Thunder, League)
- Disabled auto-updates
- Used older NVIDIA drivers
I even removed the 3080 and installed a 1070 FE. That helped, but I’m unsure if it’s enough since the 3080 is still present.
Event Viewer didn’t help much—it just showed a hard freeze and marked power-down as an error.

What error code(s) is there? Also check the Reliability History/Monitor. This version is more user-friendly, and the timeline might show some pattern.
Do you have the most recent BIOS? There was a new AGESA update released on August 4 for certain AMD boards.
It has just repeated the same process, the games it runs are entirely unpredictable now. I only installed random titles during setup to compare performance across various configurations and capabilities, yet I’m encountering startup issues. After rebooting, Event Viewer or the Reliability checker doesn’t show any previous hard reset requirement. Here are the issues I’ve found:
1. The TPM driver faced an irreversible failure on the hardware, blocking essential services like data encryption. For assistance, reach out to the manufacturer.
2. Provider setting error 0xC0000001 occurred.
3. The driver DriverWudfRd failed to initialize for the specified device.
4. Permission configurations prevent Local Launch access for the COM Server application to the user ID DESKTOP-58L6MQ1 with associated CLSID and APPID.
5. Two instances of permission restrictions apply: one for Local Activation and another for Local Launch, both blocked by the Component Services tool.
6. Windows Hello for Business provisioning won’t start.
7. Device is AAD joined; test results were not recorded.
8. User logged in using AAD credentials, but no successful authentication occurred.
9. Windows Hello for Business is enabled; status unverified.
10. Post-logon provisioning for Windows Hello is not functioning.
11. Local machine meets hardware requirements for Windows Hello; test pending.
12. No connection detected via Remote Desktop.
13. On-premise authentication policy certificate is active; test pending.
14. No specific policy or cloud trust settings were applied.
15. All changes are applied at startup, with no prior warnings before failure.
Is Windows Hello for Business a necessity?
There appear to be several permissions needed alongside that, possibly related.
