PC appears to display a black screen intermittently, lasting about 3 to 5 seconds.
Short summary
: Recently assembled a PC using a Gigabyte B650 X AX v2 board and a 5060ti with a 750w Rosewill power supply. Early on, I experienced random black screens that appear unpredictably, even during normal use like watching videos or playing games. These screens last about 3-5 seconds, audio plays, fans spin, but nothing visible appears on the screen.
Attempted solutions
: Replaced GPU, re-seated GPU power cable, swapped the power cable, reinstalled NVIDIA driver.
Possible causes
: 1. Loose case screws causing a short circuit?
: 2. Driver or BIOS problem—lack of experience and no matching solutions found.
: 3. Hardware fault involving GPU, motherboard, RAM, or power supply.
Any assistance would be very much appreciated! Thank you.
It might be related to the display cable. Are you using HDMI with high resolution and refresh rate? On my earlier cable, I experienced brief blackouts at 4K 120Hz, which were resolved by switching to a cable designed for that bandwidth and certified for HDMI 2.1 (Monoprice 8K Certified Ultra High Speed HDMI Cable - Braided - HDMI 2.1 15"). The length of the cable is important, so a high-quality cable is especially necessary for longer distances.
Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
750w Rosewill power supply
Rosewill is the brand of the unit, while 750W is the advertised wattage of the unit. What is the model of the unit? If the unit's been in service for a while and/or recycled, include it's age.
I recently built a PC with a gigabyte b650 x ax v2 motherboard and a 5060ti with a 750w Rosewill power supply.
Please list the specs to your build like so:
CPU:
CPU cooler:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:
Monitor:
include the age of the PSU apart from it's make and model. BIOS version for your motherboard at this moment of time.
Did you carry over your OS drive from an older platform without reinstalling said OS? If yes, that can be one issue.
Tranta, I’m testing a standard 1080p display at roughly 75hz and recently swapped in a new HDMI cable to check if it resolves the black screen issues.
Regret about that, I’ll include the specifications later.

Ensure all cables from the monitor are securely connected, including the power cord to and from the wall outlet. If the problem continues, obtain a backup monitor or TV to verify if the issue affects all devices. If only one monitor is impacted, it may indicate a monitor-specific fault. When multiple devices like a spare TV are involved, the graphics card on your PC is likely the source. The "VMG750" PSU model is from Rosewill; if it’s that brand, consider replacing it with a reliable PSU. I’m not certain, but I haven’t encountered a quality Rosewill PSU yet. Affordable alternatives include the Montech Century II for ninety dollars.
This confirms the setup, it's a Rosewill PSU. I'll begin troubleshooting, and if the problem continues, I'll start by swapping the power supply.
I believe I recall the screen flickering on my 3060 Ti while using Firefox. It might have been due to a driver issue, so ensure you're using the most recent one (591.74 currently).
The chances of risk are low since you're testing the new card in the system.
