On January 7, one of the programs I often use began to crash, displaying messages indicating that my GPU drivers were outdated. Following some troubleshooting, I encountered black screens with no sound when running applications requiring more than a web browser. Examples included Second Life viewers and certain Final Fantasy 7 remake games. Eventually, I took it to Best Buy for diagnostics by a technician named Not Me. He discovered liquid damage to the PSU due to something spilled on it. After replacing the PSU, the issue persisted until the technician performed a GPU stress test and left the PC running overnight. I brought it home and connected it to another surge protector on a different wall outlet. Despite this change, I haven’t seen any black screens yet. I remain uncertain but feel cautiously hopeful. My question is: what could have caused the black screen under those specific conditions? It’s possible I’m finally getting things back on track, though I’m still curious.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer! We need to understand what that liquid from Not Me was. On a side note, consider using DDU to uninstall all GPU drivers (Intel, AMD, Nvidia) in Safe Mode, then reinstall the latest driver from Nvidia's support site with an elevated command—Right click installer > Run as Administrator. You might also try reverting to the original wall outlet and surge protector to check if the problem continues. If it does, your outlet may have a grounding issue.
