Hey there, newcomer! I’m just starting out with PC building and I ran into something really odd. My old system worked fine until I turned it on, then after a bit of cooling with the AC, it would power up normally. But no matter how much room temperature changes, it always needed to be cooler than outside. After a few stress tests, everything looked good—CPU and GPU temps stayed under 75°C. I even checked the connections and cleaned everything up, but nothing worked. I’ve got the specs right here, and I’m trying to figure out what to fix without any spare parts. Any advice or a guide on what to test first would be super helpful!

The issue seemed to come from the motherboard connections where the front panel power switch wires linked to the board. I removed the wires, sharpened the contacts with a nail file, cleaned them, vacuumed out the case, and reinserted the wires. It worked perfectly. Just a clean contact fix was all it took. Stay safe and good luck!

This appears to be a problem related to the electrical wiring in your house rather than any issues with your computer.

Test various power outlets throughout your house. If possible, consider moving to another home, seriously.

Set up the system inside a cardboard box outside the case and try again without using the AC.

I've checked other locations and devices without success. I'll attempt to run the PC outside its case next time. If that doesn't work, I'll try removing the power connectors. Living near the ocean means corrosion and rust are a regular issue for people nearby. I'll update you once I've tried everything.

I also tried the two options (building the PC outside the case and carefully filing the power button connectors). Nothing worked. I’m running out of ideas. It seems everything functions normally when the PC is running. Do you have any other suggestions?
