I adjusted PBO to Auto in the BIOS, but I haven’t changed anything else on my 7950X3D. I’ve kept the cache enabled and checked performance in CinBench and CS2—results didn’t show much variation. From what others say, turning it off might still offer some advantages in other games or apps. Let me know your thoughts based on your experience!

Adjust PBO to +200MHz and -15mV across all cores. Set SoC voltage to 1.15V. These are typical guidelines for Ryzen 7000 series, similar to the 8 AM5 boards I've assembled, including a 7950x3D, and they handled those configurations without issues. The SoC voltage cuts IOD power consumption by around 33%, which can significantly impact 3D v-cache CPUs with their reduced TDP limits.

In general, for stock trading, using normal PBO versus auto doesn't really change the outcome.

PBO often plays a significant role in performance. If you're running cinebench R23, I have some previous data from my 7950x3D before and after direct-die, which remains useful. This testing helped me identify the SoC undervolt, something I've applied consistently with great results. I managed to achieve very low voltages with direct-die, so I'm using 1.15V as the standard setting.

For intense multithreaded tasks it offers some benefit, yet in routine activities and games it mainly affects stability by lowering temps but risking system issues. The effect relies on the unpredictable nature of silicon manufacturing. YMMV. With certain X3D chips you can hit max -20 offset, others still face problems even at -10. Near -5 it's not worth it since gains are minimal. My 5800X3D stays hot under any cooler and only tolerates -10 before instability hits. This highlights the randomness of silicon design. I avoid undervolting or custom PBO as it doesn’t change much for my use—90% gaming, media, and occasional multithreading. Saving a few seconds every few weeks isn’t significant.

do you happen to have a cpu score on windows 11 3dmark timespy test? i know a weird test to see CPU performance but im getting around 16k with background apps off and on windows 10 i did get a fair bit higher however cinebench is pretty much the same score or almost the same on windows 11 and 10, i also disabled core isolation. if you have a score for that with only PBO enabled no other OC or CO or anything that would be lovely thank you! i do get very similar results on cinebench with around 35-36k score with only pbo without any SOC voltage modifiers or Curver optimizer settings so i think my cpu is fine but in games however i wish i could know for a fact which is why i did try 3dmark because im guessing it could be similar to games

I've encountered some odd licensing problems with 3Dmark and have stopped using it for a while. Mostly I rely on cinebench r23 for CPU testing across multiple cores and games for practical CPU/GPU evaluation. It would make sense to check my current configuration, but I worry it might behave similarly with 3Dmark.

Clear and straightforward, I tried the free demo. Likely, if Cinebench ratings match, it suggests the system is performing adequately.

Cinebench delivers scores matching typical boost clock averages. For gaming speed, it shows you shouldn't be overheating under heavy load—provided your setup avoids major GPU-CPU conflicts.
