I bought The Crew and thought it was decent, even though the 60fps was limited and the performance wasn’t great. My brother on Xbox 360, who isn’t a heavy gamer, asked for racing recommendations and I suggested The Crew. He bought it, but the Xbox struggled, showing slow speeds and frequent stutters. When I tried to load maps or check stats, the loading times were long and the interface lagged. The graphics looked blurry, with poor texture quality and a glitchy environment. I was frustrated by the development, especially the missing vertical sync, which should always be active. It felt like Ubisoft was intentionally making the game hard to play, and I think the console hardware wasn’t strong enough. I’m worried these next-gen systems might face similar issues soon.
I received The Crew for free on my GTX 970. I likely played it for around four hours before getting bored. I might have picked FC4 instead.
It was 360 what you anticipated? Have you tried playing GTA V on a 360 device? It looks identical...
Vsync remains active, but UbiSoft employs adaptive vsync that may fail if the frame rate drops below its goal. It enhances controller feedback and creates a more fluid experience. You might be overestimating the Xbox's potential, as it has 512 MB of RAM and is likely more challenging to develop on than today's consoles.
