I noticed it was available in early access and decided to take a chance. I downloaded the installer from the site, waited for the 90 GB download to finish, and realized you have to pay to play it in early access. Now I'm really disappointed.
Never thought a free-to-play game would require payment just to be a beta tester. Well, I guess I had to wait until it reached the final release so I could try it out.
*sigh*

Definitely bothersome, but appreciated for giving a "heads up".
Feeling good about helping others avoid the trouble.

if i knew i would stay with it for a long time and really "finish" the game, i'd happily and quickly pay to play.
but i'm so ADHD that i am just as likely to enjoy the crap out of it for 2 weeks and then never play it again. lol
free to play for me is basically a demo. if i'm still with it in a month, i'll buy something to say thanks for the game.
i've got a couple mobile games i've actually spent some cash on as a way to thank the devs for months of entertainment.
but if i don't stick with it, then i'm just happy it was a free chance to see what it offers.

Yup, I learned for past mistakes buying into an Early Access game, I wont do it again. Once I seen that you have to pay $40 I think it was to try it, not my money...
I didn't like the first POE anyway, and idk if I'll like POE2, so no money from me.

I haven't played the first PoE... but I'm really enjoying D4 and can't stop now. Maybe look into it later in the season once things calm down.

Yeah, I was expecting it to be released, but it's still in early access.
I didn't really progress much in POE; I'm not sure I enjoy the skill tree, it doesn't feel very rewarding. But I think a lot of that depends on how far you get in the game.
I usually go back to playing D2 when I want some ARPG action. For a while, I used Pluggy to gather items and then roleplay other characters to use them.
Someone mentioned a D2R Modded version, and I hope Blizzard won't shut down multiplayer, since they seem to have fixed it recently.
