You're trying to switch your modem out of bridge mode by accessing it directly, but you've lost the password and the label doesn't help. You may need to reset the device or contact your ISP for assistance.

Many routers include a reset button for returning to the original settings. Alternatively, you can contact your internet provider, such as Comcast, who have full access to their systems. It’s unclear why someone would choose to disable bridge mode.

The internet issues seem to be linked to the router, since changing the IP address resolves them.

It could be a problem with your modem. The incoming signal to your home might not meet the required standards. It's difficult to determine exactly what's wrong. The best solution is to physically inspect your modem and verify the signals. OR contact Comcast and report your difficulties.

We already had a fresh modem installed, which worked properly, while the router had been here the whole time we faced issues.

It might be the router. I don’t rent gear from Comcast since I wouldn’t pay $10 a month for such a poor modem/router. If you don’t have the password, you’ll have to contact them directly. They can access their devices remotely and adjust settings freely, which is another reason I avoid renting from them. Just ask them to disable bridge mode or switch to a different router. Ultimately, if you’re not familiar with the password, you’ll likely need their assistance.

Confirm you're not using the standard credentials. Start with defaults like admin/password. Search online or check Comcast's site for your model's manual. Reset the gateway to factory settings. Use tools to fetch the router's backup configuration. Consider free software such as RouterPassView.
