Hello, I bought an Asus GL551JW recently. The system comes pre-installed with Windows 10, which works fine. However, I noticed the included 1TB drive has partitions that seem unusual—specifically, a small 500MB partition in the middle labeled as the recovery partition. When I right-click it, only "Help" appears, making it impossible to delete. I’m planning to install a new SSD once it arrives and intend to create an image of the current drive before transferring it to the new one. After loading the image, I’d like to perform a factory wipe. From what I understand, it’s not possible to move or relocate that partition during a factory reset, but I’m curious if doing so would allow me to remove it. Could anyone confirm whether a factory wipe can free up space in that location? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It's a Windows recovery partition, which is completely fine. You shouldn't be able to delete it.

Usually makers divide the OS and data sections, but they don’t explain the reason. I’d leave the EFI and recovery parts untouched.

I’d really like it to avoid being in the middle. I thought a reinstall could help move it to the front.

Consider using a third-party partition manager such as Partition Wizard.
