While gaming my frames are definitely lower than they should be. I am running on ultra - but the usages dont make sense. Nvidia overlay says 32% cpu is going to game and 50+% GPU is being used. Task manager says 1% GPU and 45% CPU. Clearly I have a lot of room to boost my frames and game quality - so why is it not trying to? PC: 11400F/4070 32gb ram, 1000w PSU, X63 AIO, windows 10, B560 mobo - GPU temp peaked 55C, CPU temp peaking 44-45c.

Indicates no restriction from CPU or GPU power. The issue might stem from another limitation such as storage access speed, memory performance, network congestion, or frame rate constraints. Identify the specific bottleneck causing the problem.

TL;DR Task Manager isn't ideal for tracking GPU usage during gameplay unless everything is perfectly configured, which rarely happens in practice. Nvidia Overlay provides more precise data. When you exit a game via Task Manager, the game's frame rate usually drops sharply to conserve power and prioritize Windows performance—so the stats reflect real usage. Video games create fluctuating demands, so relying on Task Manager isn't always reliable for everyday monitoring. Other factors like drivers, RAM settings, and game mode (full-screen vs windowed) also play a role. Questions about updates, timings, resolution, and specific apps can help clarify the situation.

Here’s a revised version of your points:

1. All current settings are up to date; my autism wouldn’t let me receive any notifications that could cause confusion.
2. RAM performance wasn’t an issue, but I adjusted the XMP profile and switched from 2600 to 3200, which matches my RAM specifications.
3. I’m running Borderless 4. Ultra with Nvidia Reflex Low Latency on+boost, using only physical cores.
4. DLSS remains disabled; I haven’t restricted FPS limits.
5. I don’t have DLSS enabled.
6. My frame rate stays consistent—though usage fluctuates—I’m seeing around 100 FPS while moving naturally, but if I speed up (which is allowed at 2.01X in-game settings on 12,000dpi), FPS drops to 70-80 without a significant jump.
7. Tarkov is the only title where I truly value consistent FPS. Playing like R6 Siege keeps my FPS steady above 200 and stable. Even with dynamic loads, I’d prefer more system resources for a smoother experience rather than minimal usage.
8. Unlike some games that suggest only a small amount is needed, I want effort in gaming. It’s like driving a powerful car—600 horsepower with manual—where I only need to reach 40mph and adjust gear or speed. I’d rather use more power for enjoyment than just meet the bare minimum.
9. I didn’t upgrade my GPU to match frame rates; my 3060 Ti handled the workload well. If it’s only running at a fraction, I won’t upgrade the CPU either.
10. Just ran NZXT CAM while playing and reached near 60% CPU usage and 40% GPU usage during recording—still within acceptable limits.

Looking for suggestions to make the game push more demands on the PC?
