Actually, it runs much slower than a Ryzen 5 1400. It uses an outdated and failing socket, and it has many security vulnerabilities.

those processors are far beyond my budget, but I can get an i7 which is decent too—it's similar to the old Ryzen 5 when it was new.

It performs poorly compared to the 1400 version. It will significantly slow down processing of the 980 unit, causing major performance issues. The overall system will become highly unbalanced.
