I’m working on research for my college and have set up a high-performance PC with ThreadRipper Pro 7995WX, an RTX 6000 Ada, and 256GB RAM. The problem is that our college firewall is overly strict, and the configuration isn’t well understood by anyone involved. As a result, most access points—like Fedora mirrors and tailscale.com—are blocked. I’ve submitted a request for an exception, but I’m unsure if it will be approved or implemented soon. In the meantime, I need a temporary workaround that doesn’t require permanent changes. Since we have a gigabit connection, could I use OpenVPN to connect my home server? I’d prefer something that doesn’t involve linking to my device directly. I’ve also thought about routing traffic through a Linode instance, but that would add extra expenses. Any suggestions for a cost-effective solution would be greatly appreciated!

We are unable to help with circumventing security measures like firewalls. These protections exist for valid reasons. Please collaborate with your IT team to address the problem.
