Hello, I'm having trouble with my Asus router upstairs and the ISP router downstairs. Port forwarding doesn't work consistently, and servers I've tried to host aren't connecting. Even when checking if a port is open, it shows as closed. I think there might be an issue blocking traffic, but I'm not sure what to do. Any suggestions or solutions would be appreciated!

Your internet service provider device operates in bridge mode, functioning solely as a modem while also serving as a router.

Only I forward traffic through the Asus router. It doesn’t switch to bridge mode (unclear if I know). It functions as both a router and a modem.

Set up port forwarding on the ISP router. For simplicity, turn off the routing features on your Asus gadget and use it solely as a wireless access point. With double NAT enabled, you’ll face several issues.
