So as the title suggests, the motherboard's box and manual that has been delivered was Chinese. Inside the box was the motherboard (Gigabyte Z390 D) in an anti-static wrap, an IO shield and a Sata cable. The eBay seller I ordered from (99% positive) stated it was new and unused, and the advertised pictures for the motherboard was ones in English. I ask for help because my natural concern is 1) Is it a clone? 2) Will the BIOS be in Chinese? 3) Will BIOS updates be available in English for the English market? 4) It is apparently unused and new but the Warranty serial number when typed into the Gigabyte website says it will run out on the 1st of February 2024. 5) Is it safe to use with my other components? I have messaged the seller these questions and I am just waiting for an answer but if anyone has any advice or thoughts, such as if I should just return it and buy different or use it, that would be brilliant to hear. This suggests it's probably an authentic motherboard. The problem often arises when purchasing from unofficial sellers. Even though it looks new, for the original manufacturer it’s essentially used. As a secondary buyer, you’re the first purchaser, and the warranty began on the initial sale date. The seller on eBay likely buys these from platforms like AliExpress to sell them at a lower price. Regarding language settings, an English manual should be readily available, and you can usually switch languages as needed. If you're looking for a genuine Z390 board, there are limited choices, so if the price seems fair and it functions, I’d likely go ahead.
I discovered an English PDF of the motherboard manual, mainly because this is my first PC build. I'm really worried about installing the CPU, GPU, RAM, etc., since the board might be faulty or damaged. It matched the requirements for my i9-9000K, but I'm scared it could cause damage to my components.
I understand using an Asus device like your Sabertooth 2.0 lets you press F1 to open the language menu after entering BIOS. The guide you found should indicate which key to use for selecting the BIOS language—very straightforward. Switch it to English, press F10 to apply the changes, restart the system, and you're all set.
Thank you for your feedback! I’m not sure about those specific worries yet—could be a Clone motherboard, warranty matters, or driver installation challenges. It’s normal to feel nervous as a new PC builder. Let me know if you’d like more details on any of these points.
Cloning a motherboard is quite challenging. Using a serial number from a Gigabyte board wouldn't help much, as it would only mark the item as not covered by warranty. This particular board was first launched in the Chinese market and is now being sold on the secondary market.
Cloned motherboards don't actually exist. They're not exact duplicates either. Some brands like Chinese X99 offer boards, but they clearly aren't trying to mimic other products.
