I can provide pics if needed... but basically the holes for cables on the case completely block the front panel USB 3.0 cable from attaching to the motherboard. There's a hole near the front fan mounts that almost works for this, but I would have to seriously bend (and possibly damage) the USB cable to make it fit. The strain relief on the cable is the main source of the obstruction. do not buy this part combination! I've already had so much fun maneuvering around my NH-D15S trying to plug and screw things in

Would a 90 degrees adapter not solve the USB issue? This a random example from Amazon. As for the heatsink, you can always leave install the brackets, leave the heatsink off until everything else is in. I very rarely install heatsinks on the motherboard before installation. As you found out it can make things more difficult. Pick your poison though, smaller cases have pros and cons, just like every assembly method has pros and cons.

Oh, that sounds like a solid plan. I didn’t realize such a solution existed. I accidentally bent the pins during the first attempt, but if I can straighten them, an adapter should help. Thanks a lot! (The photo was taken before I adjusted the pins just enough to prevent a short.)

I managed to reposition the pins successfully. After repairing the pins, I used the "down 90 degree" adapter and everything worked again. To secure the pins, a suggestion was made to use thin coffee straws—though it wasn't very sturdy. I also discovered the TORX T5H screwdriver tip from my Xiaomi Wiha set and a flat-headed tip were useful too. I'm aware these methods carry some risk of damage, so proceed carefully if you try this. The straw and flat tip helped position the pins accurately, and the Torx tip ensured a precise fit.
