I set up Overwatch on Wine for a short period and everything worked fine for about an hour. After that, FPS started dropping. I also noticed htop running on another monitor, showing load balanced across 6 or 8 threads. When the game stutters, one thread keeps getting maxed out while others switch frequently. Rebooting seems necessary to fix the issue. What’s happening?

Overwatch isn't officially available for WINE. It seems the WINE layer isn't correctly distributing resources on your Linux setup. Check relevant community discussions for your specific distribution or the WINE community.

It's clear this chat is much larger than I thought.

You're right, I haven't encountered many detailed conversations about WINE on these forums. It's clear I'd really appreciate more insight into the subject. While I'm open to switching to Debian Linux for daily use, the lack of developer support makes it difficult without risking issues in production. Hopefully, a local expert can help clarify things for you.

The problem likely stems from confusion about what "unsupported" entails. Overwatch or the launcher may behave differently than Wine, causing compatibility issues.

Do you have Lutris installed? If not, I'll attempt the esync option, otherwise I'll use lutris.
