In recent months, my PC has faced several troubles. Initially, I encountered GPU artifacts across various games like Overwatch and Stardew Valley. Minecraft remained unaffected until I applied a driver update, but no improvement followed. After reinstalling drivers and running DDU, the issue persisted. Eventually, I gave up on fixing it, though it wasn’t a major concern at first.
The situation changed when I noticed a blue screen of death. I revisited driver changes, tried reverting to older versions, waited for updates, and even reinstalled drivers, but the problem continued. The first RAM upgrade didn’t help much; my old 3000MHz sticks paired with newer 3200MHz ones seemed to worsen the situation. Artifacts became more frequent, especially with Overwatch crashing often.
After replacing my GPU, the crashes increased slightly. The new RAM caused further instability—my Overwatch crashed around four times on the first day, and I experienced a freeze once. The error message VIDEO_SCHEDULE_INTERNAL_ERROR appeared repeatedly. I checked my RAM individually, but the same issues persisted.
I suspect the problem might be related to GPU or motherboard, though it’s unclear. I’m considering asking friends to test my hardware on their systems to see if they encounter similar issues. It’s possible a software glitch or motherboard fault is at play. I’m still trying to figure this out and hope for a solution soon.
Unusual circumstance arises. I thought it might be your GPU failing, but since the 5600XT is experiencing similar problems, even minimally, it could point to a more serious issue. Would you have another PC to try the 6600XT? It might be a Windows corruption or malfunction, though that’s rare with such symptoms, making it hard to determine what’s happening.
I intended to have a sibling try it on their setup together with my RAM sticks. In the worst case, I’d reinstall Windows to check if that fixes the problem, and if not, I’d ask my brother to test all my parts except the power supply and SSD using his motherboard.
You might want to run a memory test using the built-in "Windows Memory Diagnostic" tool to check for any issues. It’s happening on both GPUs, and on my old PC memory sticks failed and led to artifacts.
It's been a few days since I checked my GPU and RAM, and the issue hasn't improved. I also reinstalled Windows, but that didn't fix the problem either. Recently, when I powered off the PC, I encountered another Blue screen with the error code PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA. I found someone online who had similar problems and suggested reinstalling drivers and using a different PCIe slot for the GPU, but it didn't resolve my situation. The artifacts are worsening, yet crashes remain unpredictable.
Share the dump files following the instructions from the BSOD posting thread. Attach any screenshots of the artifacting process would be helpful. I’ll focus on screenshots rather than monitor images since they better reveal GPU frame buffer activity and eliminate issues between GPU and monitor. If the system crashes or freezes during this step, please include a picture.
