Hello, I’m facing an overheating problem with my Ryzen 9 5900X. It stays around 80°C when idle but reaches 110°C during use, then crashes. At first, I used a Lian Li Galahad 360 AIO cooler. Key details: Ryzen 9 5900X + Lian Li Galahad 360 AIO / ARCTIC Liquid Freezer III 360 ASUS ROG Strix X670E-E. I’ve tried several fixes—checked the pump and fans, reapplied thermal paste, replaced the AIO cooler—but the issue continues. After cooling down, idle temps dropped to about 50°C, but they rose again once the coolant warmed up. I’m unsure what’s causing this and need guidance on next steps.

Which processor model are you using? The 5900X runs on an AM4 chipset, while your motherboard supports the AM5 socket.

The Ryzen 9000 line all share the same AM5 connector as the earlier Ryzen 7000 (Zen 4) models, allowing compatibility with existing X670E and X670 boards. I sourced this data directly from Asus, since I own an ASUS ROG Strix X670E-E. My setup uses a Ryzen 7 7800X3D motherboard instead of the Ryzen 9 5900 X.

He mentioned 5900X instead of Ryzen 9000. The Ryzen 5900X isn't compatible with the ROX STRIX X670E.

Everything looks fine! The high count of numbers and CPU series isn't an issue. Confirm your mounting pressure is accurate.

I think I'm not entirely confident, but I'm pretty sure it's yes. I'll attempt to revise it.

I provided the incorrect motherboard; I have an ASUS ROG Strix X570E, not the X670E.

It’s rare to encounter two mounting pressure errors with two different AIOs, even for someone new to building. However, it’s possible. If you take a photo of the thermal paste after removing the cooler, I’d like to see it. Which software are you using to monitor the CPU temperature?

You're working with Ryzen Master and viewing an image of the thermal paste.
