Overheating issue with I9-10900k processor
Good evening. My PC has been running smoothly for about two to three years, but recently I returned from vacation and noticed it overheating during CPU-intensive games. This wasn’t the case before I left. Idle temperatures are usually around 25-30°C, but under load they jump to 60-70°C, then gradually rise to 100°C before shutting down or freezing. I’ve replaced the fans with the original ones and cleaned them thoroughly, even applied new Arctic silver thermal paste. Still, the fans only reach about 60% speed, even when set to full power, and they only increase to 100% once the CPU hits over 70°C. It seems the cooling system itself might be insufficient. My build includes an Asrock Steel Legend H470 i9-10900K processor, Corsair H100i RGB AIO 240mm with 4x8GB RAM (32GB), Corsair RAM EVGA Ultra 2080 Super EVGA 650W bronze cooler.
I noticed the unit showing the highest performance. I reviewed a first-generation H100i AIO before installation; even though it was sealed, over time debris built up around the impeller, slowing its rotation. I suspect this buildup caused the issue. Two weeks prior to failure seemed sufficient for the pump to stop running at optimal speed. It’s unlikely completely dead—like a 10900k would shut down instantly without any flow.
