You're welcome! I remember you were curious about SMR and CMR storage options. For a minimum size of 8TB, I'd suggest looking into high-capacity HDDs that meet your requirements. Let me know if you need more details!

Recently I considered purchasing the Toshiba models since they offer the best prices and positive feedback. Instead, I chose a very inexpensive refurbished WD Gold and mistakenly received a new WD Red Pro. At the moment, I own WD, Hitachi, and Seagate. Anything you like works well. Yes, as long as it's covered by CMR, the brand isn't a concern.

Avoid the Seagate 12TB external hard drive due to its unusually high failure rate. The remaining sizes performed adequately.

Would you like to maintain that drive? I edited it on July 26, 2023 by leclod.

The air fan test confirmed heat impacts performance. Regarding the drive, would you consider this a solid choice? Model WD Blue WD80EAZZ 8TB 5640 RPM with 128MB cache, SATA 6.0Gb/s, 3.5" internal hard—available on Newegg.com.
