Yesterday I assembled my new PC. Now I've been running tests and decided to keep it active all night for downloading games while sleeping. Initially, I planned to sleep but switched all fans to silent mode (about 4 fans at ~500 RPM and a CPU cooler with 1800 RPM, plus a NZXT Kraken 280 liquid cooler – pump at 1800 RPM and fans at 550+). After checking the temps, my CPU stayed between 50-65°C, GPU around 45-50°C, and the liquid between 30-35°C. Are these readings acceptable for just idling and background game downloads?

We have no other information beyond what you provided. No reference to case or temperature. It could be warm—X3D is relatively straightforward to manage. The CPU is handling much of the load, ambient conditions are normal, and quiet systems tend to run warmer.

The issue involves the NZXT H9 Flow with four built-in fans. The temperature in my room is about 25°C, not exceeding 30°C today.

AM5 chips usually run cool around 45°C, but they can spike by 10 to 20°C under any workload. 3D versions may reach up to 20°C hotter, so keeping things at half speed with slow fans helps maintain safe temperatures.

Great question! I don’t have a specific answer, but you can check your vehicle’s manual or consult a trusted mechanic for the recommended idle temperature.

In the 30s works well with a temperature around 20-25°C. I’d keep the pump running at a steady, faster speed until you notice it making an irritating sound. Personally, I haven’t had many problems with pumps operating above 90%.

Idling and downloading steam games are distinct activities. Idle time needs real monitoring, not just assuming inactivity means low usage. Steam downloads can stress a CPU if your connection is strong. You shouldn't constantly change fan speeds, especially with a water cooler—set a steady low speed that runs quietly. A quiet fan works well for most tasks. When exporting video or compiling shaders, you'll hear only a faint hum, not noise. This has been mentioned multiple times in recent discussions about CPU usage.

Steam relies on compression, which puts a significant strain on the CPU, particularly with high-speed internet. Loading games from Steam increases the load on my 7800X3D more than any other title I've played, thanks to my Gigabit connection. Often the CPU becomes the main limitation for download speeds instead of the internet itself.
