ASUS supports Intel Pentium Anniversary Edition processors for overclocking on H97, H87, B85 and H81 boards. Check the details here: https://www.asus.com/sg/News/0yYwfwL2ZA9CFAMK. Ask about maximum GHz and CPU voltage. Thanks!

The sole exception is the B85 gaming line from MSI. I own a B85I Gaming with a 4690K, 4770K, and now a 4790K. The board continues to overclock smoothly.

This was shared in 2014. It's not feasible to overclock the Pentium G3258 on this board without BIOS modifications. Intel issued an update allowing only the G3258 to be overclocked on Z97/Z87 Anniversary boards. Still, I recommend using a better cooler instead of the standard one, unless noise is a concern.

I understand this discussion is somewhat resolved, but I realized the MSI B85i Gaming and MSI Z87i Gaming are essentially the same. The main distinctions lie in the number of USB 3.0 and Sata 6 ports, along with the pre-installed Wi-fi card on the Z87i board and additional features like RAID and smart response.
