Overclocking to the limits
Overclocking to the limits
Nice situation; it supports a 170mm cooler. If you prefer the noctua NH-U14s at 165mm and find it more affordable than the ND15s while still performing well, here is the TDP guide: https://noctua.at/en/tdp-guide
Thank you very much!

My old i7-4770k reaches its maximum at 4.3Ghz @ 1.29 volts. It can go up to 4.5Ghz but only at 1.35 volts, and it gets very hot quickly with any cooling solution.
If you want better performance, consider replacing it with an i7-4790k, which would be more cost-effective after the upgrade (especially with 24GB of memory to install).
Someone might prefer your i5 to lower the i7's price a bit.
The most stable overclock I've achieved on my 4770K is 4.4Ghz @1.25V, reaching 80C on P95 V26.6 Small FFTs (about an hour).
Thanks for sharing your PC details—I think this is the ceiling of your system. Appreciate the advice on your gaming rig.

My 4670k also reaches its maximum at 4.3Ghz, I've managed up to 1.300v but that's the limit I aimed for. It operates smoothly at 4.3Ghz with 1.285v. Even if you crank it up to 4.5Ghz, the improvement stays under 5%, which won't be noticeable. You won't see a significant change pushing above 100fps in games that are CPU-intensive, like BF1 multiplayer. With four cores/threads, it simply isn't sufficient. I've noticed occasional drops below 60 fps in certain titles when the CPU hits its limit. Achieving 100+ fps consistently across all games will require a CPU upgrade.
Hello, these titles I played are available only on Campaign mode; I haven't really engaged with Multiplayer except for World of Warcraft. You're right about multiplayer—there are areas with high density that strain my CPU and cause performance drops below 100fps. However, most times I get 100+ fps.
Thanks for reading this. I wish I could push the limits higher, but since you have a similar build, I'm reassured it's still suitable until you decide to upgrade your system. I hope Volta makes a difference in 2018 or 2019. I had a system I built back in 2013, gradually replacing parts as needed.
That will definitely help if you avoid multiplayer, though I do notice occasional drops under 60fps in Project Cars 2 single-player during certain races.
Hey, could you suggest some good racing car games? I haven't played them before, so I'm unsure if they'll be enjoyable. I've seen some YouTube videos but need more details. Thanks for your reply.
Racing games are highly personal. Do you prefer realistic simulation or arcade-style physics? "The Best" is a topic of debate online. Personally, I favor more realistic racing titles like Assetto Corsa and Project Cars 2. I'm new to racing and mostly play FPS games. What I found was that controllers often become tiresome, which led me to upgrade my setup with a G920 steering wheel, peddles, gear shift, and eventually the Playseat Challenge.
For less realistic racing experiences, I find them acceptable with a controller, though they can be boring. PC2 and AC are more engaging and immersive now that I have a decent build. The single-player mode on PC2 is much better, as multiplayer racing games often feel chaotic.
Thanks for your response. I'm open to trying new things, just a bit cautious. For me, it doesn't matter whether the graphics are high or if I play with a controller—what matters is having fun. When you mentioned controllers, is that the only way to enjoy racing games? You can't rely on the keyboard?
