I own an i7-5820k with a hyper 212 evo cooler. I'm unsure about optimal temperatures. It's overclocked to 4.2 ghz, with idle temps between 42-53°C. A stress test shows 68°C. Are these acceptable?

The safe temperature during stress testing should remain below 80°C to ensure maximum stability, and the core must stay under 75°C continuously.

Intel's specifications indicate a TCASE of 66.8C. Maintain full load temperatures below that value. This figure refers to the package temperature, not the individual core temperature. It’s likely better than a Hyper 212 for cooling an overclocked 6-core Intel CPU. Stress testing at maximum load across six cores will likely feel similar to tasks like video rendering. If you're gaming, expect much lower loads and cooler temperatures.
