Overclocking the Intel 5820k on ASUS X99 Deluxe
Overclocking the Intel 5820k on ASUS X99 Deluxe
I'm aware of many talks about overclocking, but I'm trying to grasp what's happening in the BIOS of the X99 as well as overclocking to a decent level...
Hey there, I wonder if we'll end up being friends one day. Right now, I'm working on a similar setup and trying to fix it. If I find anything helpful, I'll let you know. For now, I'm just experimenting with ASUS' automatic overclocking.
I also invested a lot of effort into my most recent build, such as the Asus Deluxe 3.1 and a 5820K. I really enjoy it.
The overclocking process is surprisingly straightforward because I relied on the manufacturer's extensive testing versus my own limited experience.
Now, addressing the queries:
■ WHY does the DRAM Frequency display DDR4-2133 even though the memory is DDR4-2400 and the XMP profile recognizes DDR4-2400? Is there another factor influencing this number?
2133 is the standard default. The 2400 setting on your RAM matches the factory-tested stable value. (I wasn’t aware of that either) You should adjust this in the BIOS settings.
I didn’t find the option in the auto tuner, so I looked up instructions on adjusting DRAM speeds in the BIOS for the Asus board. It’s not overly complicated, though it can be surprising when you realize you had to change it instead of letting it run at the correct speed. I purchased 16GB of Dominator Platinum at 3000, which showed up at 2133. It quickly became clear that I had mistakenly bought a set of faulty memory.
