Hey Guys,
I'm experiencing a strange problem with my new motherboard and CPU. Sometimes after booting, my CPU gets pinned at 3.7 GHz even though my overclock is set to 4.9 GHz. When this happens, no turbo boost appears and it stays stuck at that speed. All other BIOS settings like core voltage and XMP mode remain unchanged. This usually occurs during a cold boot—after leaving the PC off overnight and restarting quickly, it returns to the correct speed.
Thanks for any advice!
My motherboard is an AsRock Z370 Extreme4 with an I7 8700K.

I did it manually in BIOS, I have no OC software or anything. I will have a look into the profiles, but I am almost certain that I only have 1.
Try Re-plugging the 4pin connector(s) into the cpu slot from the psu.

I considered how the system might be choosing another OCR profile during startup.

I handled it directly in BIOS, without any OC tools. I’ll review the profiles, but I’m pretty sure I only have one.

Thanks for the advice! I’ve already tried that and left my PC off for an hour, then restarted it—my OC is back!
I’ll double-check tomorrow because it seems to happen overnight, but hopefully this fixes it.
