Building a PC has left me a bit puzzled about overclocking. I saw some sources saying that certain CPUs automatically boost RAM speeds. Can you explain how that happens, and how it differs from manually increasing RAM speed?

Overclocking the CPU and increasing RAM speed aren't the only factors involved. The CPU multiplier and memory multiplier work independently. Boosting the CPU multiplier mainly raises the CPU frequency, not just the RAM speed. Adjusting the base clock or Bclk can also affect RAM speed. This information is quite old; many improvements have been made recently. Now it's possible to overclock the CPU separately from the memory, allowing you to set the desired RAM speed.

Adjusting your motherboard's BCLK setting can impact your RAM and PCIe speeds. Changing your CPU's Frequency Multiplier won't affect these aspects.
