At maximum performance levels I believed the GPU was the main constraint rather than the CPU. If that's accurate then pushing your CPU's speed won't resolve the issue. Yes, I thought the same and confirmed it when I enabled demanding Ultra settings on AAA games—strong GPU performance is essential, and with a decent CPU, you won't face bottlenecks up to around 1070 Ti or similar. It really depends on the resolution; even at 1440p the GPU tends to take over.

Here are the additional details about your computer, including the monitor. Adjusting the CPU cache might not be beneficial if other components are lacking.

I don't think it will be very useful at 4.8Ghz, as those are quite high and the CPU is strong in this situation. You'll perform much better with your GPU, since if the GPU isn't getting enough power, it has to rely more on the CPU.

At extreme levels I believed the GPU was the main constraint, not the CPU. If that's true, then trying to overclock the CPU wouldn't make a difference.

I have an RX 580 with 8GB RAM and an i7 4790K with 4.7 GHz, I want to know if I can play most games at ultra 1080p.
