Overclocking temps 8600k
Hey everyone,
I recently got an 8600k OC'd to 4.6 across all cores. During casual gaming like R6S, I see around 66°C, and cinebench shows similar results.
If I push it to 4.9 on all cores, the temperature climbs into the high 70s.
I'm just starting out with overclocking and wondering if those temperatures are within safe limits.
My cooler is a Deepcool Captain 240.
Your temperatures are ideal for 4.6ghz or 4.9ghz. For reference, when I was at 4.6ghz I discovered I could maintain stability by simply raising the multiplier to 46. The performance was smooth with a low vcore of 1.218v. Of course, that wasn't my main aim, just a note.
J_E_D_70 would say a high 70s around 4.9 is quite good. It's warm but acceptable. I experimented by manually adjusting the voltage, and achieved a stable OC at 5ghz without exceeding 72°, which is very satisfying.
Nice! Very! If you wished to conduct further testing, Prime95 V26.6 Small FFTs would be a suitable choice. http://www.mersenneforum.org/showthread.php?t=15504
