I'm just starting out with overclocking and added a Noctua dh15 to my 8700k. I ran Cinebench to check the baseline performance without turbo, but my temperatures are still climbing a lot even at full load. The 8700k tends to get hot, but I'm not sure if I have enough room to push it. Idle temps sit between 30-33°C. Any advice would be great. My case uses a NZXT S340 Elite and the motherboard is Asrock Extreme 4.

8700k has toothpaste under the IHS, but you likely don’t need 1.26v for 4.3ghz. I wouldn’t go much further, though—keeping voltage steady while boosting clocks will raise temps. You might try 1.2v and check how much you can push.

A good seal reduces the temperature by about 10 degrees. Plus, it boosts the toothpaste!

Your actual voltage core is running at around 8700kV. Those temps were achieved during high-load operation at 4.8ghz using the cryogenic H7 quad lumi cooling system.

They’re checking stock components to gauge temperatures under stress before boosting performance. At load, the voltage core is around 1.26V since it’s auto and the standard Intel boost setting is 4.4GHz. I’m also running a Noctua DH15 cooler.

D15 should stay cool under the stock 8700k. The wife's 8700 nonk will stay active all day at 4.3ghz, just like the stock 8700k, on an affordable Arctic freezer 33—around the 60s, similar to an A64. I think reinstalling the cooler is a good idea.

Repositioning succeeded. It’s unclear whether I applied too much thermal paste or didn’t align it properly, but temperatures are now stable at 56°C under full load and 28–29°C at idle.
