I'm having trouble getting past the 3.2ghz limit, even though I adjusted the BIOS settings to a different value. When I restart, it still shows 3.2ghz. I'm looking for some assistance with this issue.

No problem. Let's confirm if you're adjusting the correct ratio. Do you have a BIOS beeper? If yes, do you notice any beeps after the computer restarts following the overclock? After applying the overclock, the computer restarts and then performs a POST test. I believe your overclock might be triggering this test, which could reset the BIOS to its default settings, allowing the system to boot again and potentially removing the overclock.

As for why this is occurring, I'm not entirely sure. If you're using an H81 board, it's possible that the BIOS needs to support stable overclocking for a G3258. You might have an older BIOS, which could be the issue. What is the exact model and...

Not to be considered impolite, you haven't mentioned the CPU, motherboard, or cooler. How would you anticipate an answer to your inquiry?

No issue at all. Confirm you're adjusting the correct ratio? Do you have a BIOS beeper? If yes, do you detect any beeps once the computer restarts after overclocking? After setting the overclock, the system restarts and performs a POST test. I believe your overclock might be triggering the BIOS to reset to default settings, which could eliminate your overclock.

Regarding the reason behind this occurrence, if you're applying the overclock properly, many H81 boards require a BIOS that can stably handle overclocking on a G3258. It's possible your BIOS is outdated and unsuitable. Could you please share the exact model and make of your motherboard? I'll investigate whether others are experiencing the same problem and suggest a specific BIOS revision for overclocking the G3258.

Dunlop0078 is clarifying the situation and asking for confirmation on the BIOS beeper and any beeps after overclocking. They are seeking advice on whether the overclock is affecting the POST process and if a different BIOS version is needed for the G3258. They provide the motherboard model and ask for a comparison with other users experiencing similar issues.
