Hey there, so I'm just getting started with all the overclocking stuff. I'm assembling PC components for my new Ryzen setup. Since all the Ryzen chips are unlocked and considering my budget and usual tasks, I've chosen a Ryzen 5 2600. I mainly play games, do light video editing, and stream occasionally.

I really like this Asus ROG B450-F motherboard:
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/XQgzK8/...0-f-gaming
Can I achieve a solid overclock around 4.0 to 4.1GHz with this board? I don’t mind a ±100MHz variation as long as it hits 4GHz.

Should I also expect similar results from the MSI B450 Tomahawk:
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/Hy97YJ/...0-tomahawk
It’s $25 cheaper, but will it still keep a stable 2600 at 4.0-4.1GHz?

Overall, are these boards suitable for moderate daily overclocking with a Ryzen 2600?

Or should I opt for a more affordable X470 like:
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/8Wzkcf/...gaming-pro
or
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/8Wzkcf/...gaming-pro

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I’d really appreciate many responses since I’m quite confused.

By the way, I plan to pair this with a GTX 1080/1080Ti or RTX 2070, whichever I find more affordable. I’m thinking of building this in October. Thanks!

P.S. Sorry for the rather lengthy message.

cheaper options for the B450 will suffice, you don't need those costly B450 MBs. I'll secure this: https://www.newegg.com/global/il/Product...38566&SID=

Other options could work just as well, you don't need the pricier B450 models. I'll check the link you shared for this one: https://www.newegg.com/global/il/Product...38566&SID=

2600 works with B450.
Could I risk overheating my VRAM by using fewer heatsinks on this board if I push the OC to 4GHz? Thanks!
Also, is the $60 extra worth it for a 2600 or can it keep up through OC?

not really, 2600X could be 0.1G quicker but it wouldn't justify 60...
