Hey everyone, I've been using my Ryzen 5 1400 for a while now and really enjoy it. But I'd love to get even more performance out of it.
Yes, I'm still a beginner in overclocking. I have no prior experience with the topic and was hesitant because my old CPU was an AMD X4 880K with a very basic motherboard that only supported overclocking up to 35 pounds. It ran at around 4 GHz but stayed cool (about 85°C) during games, so it wasn't much of a challenge.
I've never really dived into overclocking before, but a friend mentioned it's great and watching YouTube videos showed my processor could handle more than its base speed. That made me reconsider.
In short, I'm looking for some guidance on the process.
For instance: how does voltage change with frequency?
What voltage should I aim for?
Can I push this model up to 4 GHz? Is that realistic?
And what steps should I follow?
Also, keeping in mind my setup is all about gaming, any tips would be super helpful!

I believe the simplest option is to look for a detailed tutorial on YouTube – one should be available by now for the Tomahawk motherboard. I doubt you can reach 4.0, it might be a bit above average, given your cryorig cooler which is around 3.6GHZ. Also, swapping your GPU to a 1060 3Gb isn't a major upgrade; hope you manage to get that affordable.

I believe the simplest option is to look for a detailed tutorial on YouTube—there should be one available for the Tomahawk motherboard by now. I don't think you can reach 4.0, that might be a bit above average, and with your cryorig cooler around 3.6GHZ, it seems reasonable. Also, swapping your GPU to a 1060 3Gb isn't a huge jump, hope you manage to get one at a low price. Thanks, and the reason for upgrading is that my RX 470 sold for about £310 when I bought it for £180 a few months ago. I’m currently using an Nvidia 7600GT just to write this, which I got from a friend. I’m eyeing a 1060 for £200. Even if it's not a major upgrade, it’s the only one I can afford right now due to the huge GPU shortage.

I considered selling my 480 and just use something I already have on hand for a while too 😉
