Yeah I read that. There is a tipping point in the RAM speed vs tighter timings. In an ideal world I would have shelled out £600 for top of the range 3200MHz or higher RAM but that was out of my budget so I opted for RAM that is tested on Ryzen at a lower speed and over clocked it. Once I have fully checked I am stable at 2933 MHz 20-19-19-47 CR 1T I am going to try and tighten the timings up a bit.
This is also worth a watch:

Samsung "b" die RAM wird für Ryzen und ähnliche Prozessoren empfohlen. Sie bietet hohe Anpassungsfähigkeit und kann stark optimiert werden, obwohl sie teuer ist und schwer zu finden ist. Es gibt verschiedene Sets, die beeindruckende Geschwindigkeiten erreichen.

Einige Beispiele sind:
Einzelner Rank:
Ballistix Elite 3466 MHz CL16 BLE2K8G4D34AEEAK 8Gb
KFA2 HOF4CXLBS3600K17LD162K 8Gb
Corsair CMK16GX4M2B3200C16 VERSION 4.31 [16-18-18-36 @ 1.35v]
Samsung OEM
8 GB M378A1K43BB1 CRC NON ECC UDIMM
8 GB M378A1K43BB2 CRC NON ECC UDIMM
8 GB M378A1K43BB2 CPB NON ECC UDIMM

Yeah I think mine is Hynx although there is a ? next to it where i've seen the memory discussed. Not sure how to check if it is actually Hynx.

As long as BCLK remains below 105, the PCIe lanes will not upgrade to version 2.0 speeds and will remain at 3.0, keeping performance unchanged there. RAM will also boost its frequency, though if you need to lower it, it might not be a good idea. It could still work out.

Prime has been functioning now for 30 minutes during a custom blend test. The setup included 12GB of RAM, a CPU at 3.9 GHz, and RAM at 2933 MHz with a clock speed of 16-16-16-16-39 1T. It performed reasonably well for the amount of RAM. If it remains stable, I’ll keep it as is. I’m impressed since it looks like Hynx rather than Samsung B die. I might even adjust the timings slightly more.

I'll obtain the latest OC stable and then attempt to increase the BCLK to 105. Could you share your other configuration details for comparison? Also, which motherboard are you using?

I'll need to verify the precise configurations once I'm back at my PC, but from what I remember it was this:
R5 1600 @3.93GHz (103.4MHz * 38) - that's the closest match, only 103.4 BCLK for me, seems best
VCore 1.3625V
SOC voltage 1.15V
DRAM at 2933MHz goes to 2974MHz with 18-18-18-36 @1.35V

Chris Houston :

ZRace :
As long as BCLK is below 105, the PCIe lanes won't switch to version 2.0 speeds and stay at 3.0, leaving performance untouched there. RAM will, as already said, increase frequency too. If that forces you to downclock your RAM, it's probably not worth it. But it might just work out.
Running 104 BCLK on my Ryzen 5 1600 currently. My RAM is also set to 2933 (a tad higher than that due to BCLK obviously) and it runs fine, it's also SK Hynix chips at slightly tighter timings.

CountMike will review the matter. The guide recommends increasing VSOC up to 1.35v on the GA-AX370 Gaming 7 board. What is the general agreement on safe VSOC levels? Currently I'm at 1.35v and I need to verify if it's secure.
