Overclocking RAM speed to boost performance.
Overclocking RAM speed to boost performance.
trying to boost my ram speed with a dram calculator on a Ryzen 2nd gen isn't working. i followed the tutorial closely and tried different timings, but neither 14-14-14-30 nor 14-16-17-34 gave results. i’m wondering if enabling xmp and changing timings is the right approach. should i set it to 2666mhz manually? also, is it safe to push a few overclocked MHz from this board? by the way, i have a team group dark 2x4gb cl15-17-17-35 at 1.2v samsung b-die. the tutorial i read didn’t mention changing soc voltages.
I need to adjust my RAM settings and possibly boost my CPU performance. There are conflicting advice from the calculator and the video I watched. I suspect an issue might be with enabling XMP and altering timings. Should I tweak the frequency first, then adjust the timings? I’ve tried a few times now and am hesitant to proceed without checking for potential damage to my RAM.
Because it's a B-die doesn't guarantee quality, some samples are so poor they become low-frequency kits. For example, 2666 CL15 like yours might be even worse (such as 2400 CL17). Still, with SOC voltage at 1.1V and memory voltage at 1.4V, you can still push it into a meaningful range.
Likely higher voltage levels, but the die can still manage it.
