Overclocking RAM fails; motherboard displays warning.
Details: ROG Strix B-660 f 32GB DDR5 5600MHz Corsair Vengeance i5 13600KF 1080 750W BeQuiet. After enabling XMP, the system won’t boot and the motherboard display is lit. I reduced RAM speeds below 5600 to 4800 but still saw a black screen. After resetting CMOS, RAM clocks dropped to 4000. Can I get it back to 5600?
I faced the same problem with my i3 10100f CPU connected to an MSI H410M-K motherboard. I attempted to overclock it to 3200 MHz, but the maximum I could achieve was 2666 MHz. After some research, I discovered that the motherboard is restricting the RAM speed, even if I try to overclock the CPU to 3200 MHz. The CPU will still operate at 2666 MHz, which is its supported limit. However, it can run on other applications. In my opinion, it’s the motherboard that’s limiting performance.
I just checked it and both your CPU and motherboard support 5600Mhz. This hasn’t happened to me before, but I recommend trying two RAM sticks one at a time. If you only have one, make sure it’s installed in the correct slot. Also, consider using XMP level 1 instead of 2 since it handles voltage settings automatically.
